Public Video Art Practicum
A practicum that explored the workflow, tools, and methodologies of synchronized multi-channel video installation. Extended existing knowledge in time-based content creation (video, stop motion, algorithmic, motion graphics, etc.). Planned, executed, and exhibited work on the Great Wall at the Gordon Hotel - a 21 screen video wall that is open to the public in Eugene, Oregon.
3D Modeling/Fabrication
Explored key concepts of form, 3D modeling, digital fabrication and critical making. Learned how to create objects in 3D modeling software and translate them into physical objects through different processes involving digital fabrication. Topics included additive and subtractive manufacturing, virtual form, physical form, materiality, scale, and prototyping.
Computational Aesthetics
A dive into Java-based computer programming in the Processing coding environment. Tackle an outcome based projects such as creating algorithmic visuals to accompany music or sound, dataset-driven visualizations, and using custom written algorithms to process images and video. Advanced topics such as computer vision, P3D, OSC messaging, RSS and video manipulation was explored as well. A dive on how coding is used in artistic and applied contexts, and open new possibilities for using computer programming as an artistic medium.
Web Applications Development
Mobile-first, cross-platform Web App Development, and experienced using a number of emerging methods, tools, and technologies of the Web Platform. Emphasized on using modern JavaScript frameworks libraries to develop web applications and services (React.js)
Database Systems
Introduction to database systems, emphasis on database design and access. Database concepts, data modeling, normalization, data warehousing, query languages, formulation of complex queries.
Animation
Introduction to principles of animation, timing, sequence, key frames, in-betweens, and metamorphosis. Used various methods to record and edit animation tests.
